Beba is a lady….pure and simple. She is
approximately 7 years old, 18 lbs. with
docked tail, trimmed ears, a beautiful
silver/white soft coat and a voracious
eater. She is up-to-date on her shots,
HW negative, spayed, on Trifexis
prevention for flea/tick/mosquito. Beba
has good teeth but will need a cleaning
within the next 6 months. We know very
little about her except being a stray
and had two mammary benign tumors which
were removed when she was spayed.
Otherwise she is a very healthy little
lady.
She is also one of the rare Schnauzers
who seldom barks but is an intense
growler – her way of talking to humans
and playing with a fur sister. She may
think herself a hunting dog, as she
loves to howl while the other dogs are
barking!! Of course, she has a
“different” growl when guarding her
family. Beba may have been owned by a
breeder as she has had a number of
litters, but must have lived inside as
her manners are impeccable. She is house
trained and uses the doggie door. She
sits, stays, comes, easy on a leash with
no pulling and absolutely will NOT jump
on any furniture or person. She becomes
nervous when we pick her up and will
lift her lip and growl. She has not,
thought, shown any tendency to bite. She
is very delicate when taking anything
from your hand and responds immediately
when given a command.
Even with her manners, it is evident she
has had very little loving. She does not
know how to kiss, is fearful if you
correct her, anxious when picked up and
will not stay in your lap although she
will sit beside you or sleep at your
feet for hours. She does not do well on
the bed. Beba is crate trained and will
go in by herself. We have to lock the
crate door because she loves to chase
the cats and will tear after one at
night if the door is left open –
otherwise, she stays in without closing
the door. Although she has learned to
descend the stairs, I have not taught
her how to ascend because upstairs is
the cats only haven from her. She does
not hurt them but wants to play and is
easy with the two that will come up to
her.
Beba is not for a family with children
wanting to play or pick her up. She is
just too fearful and will warn you not
to do so. We have no idea how far she
will take her warning. She is just
learning to play but still uncertain of
the interaction between herself and
other dogs/people. She does love to have
her tummy rubbed and be petted but is
laid back and would be a dear for owners
who are home most of the time or can
take her with them. Once she learns a
dog is friendly, she is okay with them
but will NOT tolerate one in her space.
She does growl then and if they don’t
leave, will jump them. Right now she is
living with 3 other dogs, 4 cats and
gets along fine but plays with only the
“perpetual puppy” female. She is an
excellent rider - gets into a car, lies
down on the seat, and does not move
until you stop. |
