GEORGIA & HAMLET
Georgia & Hamlet are being lovingly
fostered in Tupelo, MS. If you are
interested in them, please fill out an
application and then you can email their
foster mom at
debi.pollard@mss.org
They are a puppy mill pair that bonded
strongly while they were together at an
Arkansas shelter for about 6 months.
They came to SLR as a pair & were in
rough shape when we received them in
November of 2010.
Hamlet looks to be about 3+ years old
and Georgia is about 4-5 years old. They
are both salt and pepper. Georgia is a
little darker than Hamlet. Hamlet has a
beautiful profile. They are classic
miniature schnauzers. Both have docked
tails and natural ears & weigh 16 lbs or
so. We have not been able to walk as
much during the holidays so they have
gained a little…but hope to get back at
it as soon as the weather improves.
It has taken a lot of work & love to get
these two puppy mills dogs to where they
are now. They have come from clinging to
the side of the house when going out to
potty to venturing everywhere in the
yard and loving the outdoors. They have
been with us for just a little over a
year and I can’t tell you in this short
bio how brave these two have been and
how much they have had to overcome.
They both love to take long walks. When
the weather is good we walk 2 to 3 times
a week & 3-4 miles at a time. They enjoy
their walks very much & love being
outdoors. They are leash trained and
walk well. Hamlet will stop when
approaching children but is getting
better about continuing his walk.
They are crated together during the day
while we are at work. It distresses them
to be separated. We go home for lunch
and we are home by 5 in the evening. So,
they are in their crate from 7 to 11 and
then again from 12 – 5. They sleep with
us but would do ok if they need to sleep
in their crate. They love to be tucked
in at night at the foot of the bed. They
sleep well and are ready to go in the
morning. They are also very good with
our very small Yorkie.
Hamlet can be very shy around strangers
and takes a while to warm up. Otherwise
he loves to roam all over the house and
play…which includes chasing our 3 cats.
He is very outgoing. Georgia is not as
active but she meets people better than
Hamlet. Georgia likes her comfort zones
like the couch and her crate. She is
getting better and seems to be widening
the area that she roams in the house.
She is very warm and loves lots of
petting & gives lots of kisses. She is
not a lap baby but would rather be right
next to you on the couch. Hamlet, on the
other hand, is the lap baby. He loves to
cuddle. They both spend a lot of time
curled up on the couch together. When
frightened they will both flee to their
crate together.
They still have a few issues as do all
puppy mill dogs but nothing that time
and love will not help them overcome.
They are both beautiful, sweet and
smart. They had a really tuff beginning
and deserve a wonderful forever home,
preferably together since they love each
other so much & have become dependant on
one another.
It’s safe to say they will be greatly
missed at our home but we want them to
have a forever, loving home to call
their own. If you think this special
pair sounds perfect for your family,
please submit an application for them
today. They will work their way into
your heart just as they did ours. |
