LANCELOT

Lancelot is being fostered by Mims in Columbia, South Carolina.  If you are interested in this handsome boy, you need to fill out an application and then you are free to contact Mims for more information at hunelam@bellsouth.net

Lancelot aka Lance aka Lancer is a black and sliver neutered male with natural ears and a docked tail.  He weighs in at just 13 pounds. Five and a half year old Lance is current on shots, heart worm negative, and on heart worm preventative.

This sweet boy was picked up by the county as a stray, and taken to the Columbia city shelter where he was pulled and given a new chance at life thanks to SLR.  He is very well mannered.  He is house trained and good with other dogs.  He was nose to nose with a cat he encountered on his walk and was mellow about it.  He might be okay with older kids.  His foster mom discovered that he has been treated rough.  He does not like to be taken by the collar.  He has never offered to bite or growl or show his teeth but he does stiffen up when picked up and seems scared being held and positioned. This has improved with time and he now will give kisses once in a while.

Lancer is a good eater and he sometimes plays with toys.  He will bark out in the yard if there is a reason and when he barks he hold his nose high and kicks his back legs out as it to say - "Pay attention I am speaking." He is good on leash and good in a crate, but he would rather cuddle up in the bed next to his human at night if they will allow him. He like to be where his person is and goes room to room with them. He is good when crated or left but is wagging hello the minute you come back.

Lance, like many people, does not have great teeth.  He had a dental done at the time of his neuter, and, after rescue, was vetted and put on antibiotics for his infected gums and dry skin issues.  His new owners will need to monitor his teeth and take care of them as needed as you would with any dog.  He eats just fine, but his foster mom spoils him by wetting his kibble just a bit.

Lance is no trouble, and we feel certain he will blossom even more once he has his very own forever home with someone who can appreciate his loyal affection and who will take care of him as he should be cared for.

Lancelot wanted me to tell you that he does not need to live in a castle or hang out with King Arthur.  He will be happy just to be YOUR special knight in shining armor!
