Toby had been lost and alone for about 2
years before he was brought to a vet for
us to care for him. He is approximately
4 years old, has a salt & pepper coat of
hair , natural ears and a docked tail.
He is up to date with all his shots and
has been neutered. He did have heart
worms and has had his last treatment for
this. Shortly, he will begin on his
monthly preventative heart worm
medicine. He has no other health
problems and soon this one will be
resolved. He weighs about 15 pounds and
is still very thin, but he has gained 1
pound since he's been here and I'm sure
he will gain a little more.
He is very unsure of people in general,
although he has learned to trust me and
will come to me for petting and loving.
He is very "skittish" and will quickly
jump away from sudden movements, etc. He
seems to be either unsure or afraid of
men and will growl at them. With
children, women and all other animals,
he is very comfortable and happy. He has
no problems at all with the other dogs
or cats he has met on our ventures out
to make friends for him. He doesn't seem
to know how to play with toys....he'll
need more time to learn this. Toby's a
very laid back dog but is delighted to
sniff his animal friends, his people and
his children friends although he won't
play with them yet. The children seem to
make him nervous when they play rough so
he stands back by me and watches.
He loves to ride in the car, now that he
has learned that it won't hurt him. He
loves to go outside and behaves very
well on the leash. Toby sleeps in his
crate and goes in willingly but during
the day he has the run of the house,
even when I'm gone for short periods and
is about 90% on his house training.
Toby will make the right family a very
loving dog. He needs lots of loving to
get him through this adjustment period
and I'm sure you can do it. Won't you
give this handsome boy the chance to
grow and bloom even more in your loving
home? |
